i do realize that r-n-b is an umbrella term for black artist but i have noticed that some acts that are considered "pop" do use sounds, techniques that used to be only reserved for r-n-b or dance albums
like with britney spear's albums she had a lot of tunes that i would consider r-n-b
kelis is marketed as r-n-b when she really isn't that. her songs are rather edgy like rock/dance stiff
christina aguilera sings really soulful (even more than most of the black artist) and she is still considered pop
i remember when pink first came out arista wanted her to correcting people who said she made pop music. she and her label said it was r-n-b while the record stores had her album under the pop section. well that album was clearly r-n-b to me
now she sings rock (the lady from 4 non blondes writes w/her) and they still put her in the pop category
granted i understand the word pop means popular music and is a marketing ploy what is the real difference?
