Dean Seavers has been named President of SimplexGrinnell, a business unit of Tyco Fire & Security and the North American leader in fire systems and services. In his new role, Seavers will be responsible for defining the strategy, goals and objectives that will drive growth and profitability at SimplexGrinnell. He succeeds Michael Buchanan, who retires this month after a distinguished career spanning 36 years.
Seavers will be based in the worldwide headquarters building for Tyco Fire & Security, which is located in Boca Raton, Florida. He will lead a team of more than 12,000 employees dedicated to providing world-class fire detection and alarm, fire sprinkler, fire suppression, and integrated systems and services.
Seavers was promoted to the position of president from sister business unit ADT North America, where he most recently served as Vice President for the West Region.
Tyco Fire & Security President David Robinson is impressed with Seavers' talent, leadership skills, and many achievements. "We interviewed extensively externally and internally to find the world's best candidate to be the next SimplexGrinnell president. We found that person in Dean Seavers," says Robinson. "He brings an impressive track record, not only as an individual, but also as a team leader and team player."
Seavers joined Tyco in 1999, serving as ADT Regional Vice President of Operations for the state of Florida. His talents were quickly recognized and he was promoted to Vice President for the Southeast U.S. Region in 2001. Under Seavers' leadership, the Southeast Region moved up the ranks to be one of the top-performing regions at ADT. Seavers was also instrumental in the launch of Six Sigma, a process improvement program. He was responsible for pilot testing Six Sigma in the Southeast Region, which generated considerable savings.
Before joining Tyco, Seavers served as Director of Operation Planning for Burger King Corporation and as Regional Manager for PepsiCo. He was also a founding partner of a company that provided subcontracting services to major telephony corporations.
Seavers graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business from Kent State University in Ohio and earned a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University in California.
In 2001, the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI) presented Seavers with the CareerFocus Eagle Award, its highest and most distinguished honor. The Institute places particular emphasis on leadership, the ability to triumph over adversity and a strong commitment to community.

As a child growing up in Michigan, Dr. Robert S. Shumake quickly learned to deal with adversity. However, despite dealing with poverty and homelessness at such a young age, Shumake used his plight to make him stronger.
Now as the founder and president of Inheritance Investment Group, a Michigan based real estate investment and development firm, the Detroit native has more than carved his own niche in the business world.
Dr. Shumake also founded the real estate and business corporation, First Equity Holdings in 1996. Since then, First Equity Holdings managed and sold 85% of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) inventory in the state of Michigan with sales of approximately 80 million dollars.

From what I've heard, there were some asians behind all 3 of those sites: blackplanet, migente, and asianavenue. Omar was just a front man for the black version. He happened to go to Harvard with the right guys.
